Donna Edwards

Former First Lady of Louisiana

Family, faith and helping others are the core values that Louisiana  Former First Lady Donna Hutto Edwards uses to guide her life. She and Gov. John Bel Edwards, Louisiana’s 56th governor,  proudly served the people of Louisiana from 2016 to 2024. Drawing upon her experience and knowledge as a former public school music teacher, she is excited to use her platform to make a difference for kids, families and educators, raise awareness about important issues and connect communities with needed resources and support.

As first lady, Donna has created the Louisiana First Foundation, which has a three-fold focus: developing programs that center around educating the “whole child” through Teach MAM (Music, Art and Movement), fighting against human trafficking and building a supportive network to help foster children and parents with government, non-profits, businesses and faith based organizations through Louisiana Fosters. She has also started Virtual Visits with the First Lady, which enables her to interact with students in every corner of the state and encourage reading.

Serving as first lady is an honor and an incredible experience, but without a doubt, her happiest job is being a wife and mother of her and John Bel’s three children – Samantha and son-in-law Jonathan, Sarah Ellen and John Miller.

Britainy Beshear

First Lady of Kentucky

First Lady Britainy Beshear is a long-time community volunteer and advocate for some of Kentucky’s most vulnerable children. While always a mother to Will and Lila first, she chooses to use her additional time to help Kentucky’s families and children. She served on the board of directors for Maryhurst from 2013 to 2019, which provides help and hope for abused and neglected young women and girls. She is an active volunteer with the Family Scholar House and works closely with the staff and clients to end the cycle of poverty and to empower single parents.

Her work with these organizations led Mrs. Beshear to create the Hope Gallery, located in the Office of the Attorney General, to give a voice to Kentucky children who face adversities and to highlight art therapy programs.

Mrs. Beshear is also actively involved in Will and Lila’s education, and volunteers in their classrooms and after school programs. Governor and Mrs. Beshear instill a passion for volunteerism and responsibility for community in both of their children. Following her example, the Beshear children enjoy volunteer activities with the Dare to Care Food Bank in Louisville and God’s Pantry in Lexington.

The First Lady looks forward to using her platform to improve the lives of children across the Commonwealth.

Susan Hutchinson

First Lady Susan Hutchinson brings to the Governor’s Mansion a lifetime of experience advocating for and working with children.

Among other initiatives, Mrs. Hutchinson hopes to see the establishment of more Children’s Advocacy Centers throughout Arkansas.

As Arkansas’s first lady, Mrs. Hutchinson also hopes to inspire educators to incorporate music into the daily lives of students.
